It's 3369 words long; I don't wanna read over it again to see how many times I skipped words, used the wrong words, and murdered the English language.

I need a pre-beta beta, someone who feels they need to suffer, because my beta doesn't deserve to have to suffer though a rough-draft.

Fuck it, if you don't hear from me in a few hours, send help, the fic has eaten me alive and my kids will need someone to make them breakfast in the morning.

After much discussion with my beta ("Break that shit up!" "Yes, ma'am") I've decided that this chapter needs to be split in two and both parts fleshed out. This fic, which was going to be(at most) 5 chapters, is looking down the barrel of 6 or 7. My muse has issues staying around for that long.

Aaaaand another thing...

Y'all are going to get tired of hearing from me soon.

I'm thinking about taking Kirk/McCoy and all incarnations there-of (save in threesomes) off my subscription list on delicious, simply because it overwhelms my list. Seriously, I love the pairing as well, but can we get some variety?

Does anyone else listen to music when they write? If so, what music do you listen to?

In other news, I'm kinda having fun with the notes feature on LJ, I just wish that the notes didn't show up on my comment page. It messes up the layout a bit. I like long notes. And now, a scene (unbeta'd):

Tonya strides out the back door and deep into the unkempt field beside her grandfather's house. She stops when she believes no one will be able to hear her, firmly plants her feet shoulder-width apart, and raises her two middle fingers to the sky in a gesture of rage and frustration, shaking as she screams, "Fuuuuuuuck yooouu!"

Dropping her hands to her sides and taking a deep breath, she turns and heads back into the house, bound and determined to finish the damn chapter and chop out some of the unnecessary smut. It's the wrong damn ship for the story.

There I go, committing fanfic again!

When Gods Collide [AtS/BtVS, Illyra, Willow, implied Angel/Willow, FRC, written for [livejournal.com profile] monicaop]
At my personal archive.
At InsaneJournal.
At Dreamwidth.
At my writing journal.
At nha_fic.

In other news, I just realized that my Dreamwidth account ([dreamwidth.org profile] tmbreck) could be read as Too Much Breck. You'd tell me if there was too much of me, yeah? :)

Also, I'm trying to decide if I should bookmark my fic posts to communities in my delicious account if I'm only linking in those posts to other sites with the fic. I'm thinking not, as you usually don't have comments on those posts. I did, however, save them to my memories so that I knew which communities I was posting to. I didn't save the posts where I put the actual fic, because I have those already bookmarked in delicious. See how organized I am?

However, I am trying to figure out which communities I should post my fic to. And I should actually try posting them to Dreamwidth and Insanejournal communities, as well. And, of course, I need to hunt down a Star Trek beta as my long-term beta is not in the fandom and hasn't watched the show/movies anytime recently. Does anyone know of a place I can go to get Star Trek specific betas where it's pretty straight-forward how to do it? I'm looking for someone who's willing to beta no matter the pairing, character, and squick/trigger factor. I have a feeling I'm going to be going dark with many a character and pairing... If I manage to keep writing.

Speaking of fic; McChekov? Killing me here.

How is everyone's morning going?

Write Every Day

Backdated, because I'm anal and don't want this to be marked as posted half hour after midnight.

This one is from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I know, you're shocked it isn't more Star Trek! This is something I had started work on a long time ago, and I just picked it out again today and started reworking some of it. Unbeta'd, so be warned. Here's just a snippet:
Her eyes are completely black as she rides him, hands pressing against him where his heart used to beat.

“You'll always be mine, right? I won't let you leave me.”
He's not sure when it all started to change, when she started to get lost in her own spell. Maybe he had simply found the one girl who he could make fall for him just by loving her enough. Either way, he was going to do everything he could to bind her tight to him.
He rolls them over, hand slipping unnoticed under the pillow. Bracing himself on one arm, he drags his free hand down the bed along side her, concealing a dark emerald gemstone under his palm.

Write Every Day

Today, I wrote crack! It was fun, not really having to worry about being in character, or timelines, or anything. This is Star Trek, Reboot, implied orgy, nothing to do with any of my other writings. I offer you a small snippet:
Watching the Vulcan advancing on her, Christine began to realize that drawing his attention was not, perhaps, her best idea ever.

McCoy walked in as she was inspecting the area on her neck that Spock had assaulted with his hypo.

“He got you two as well?”

At their nods, he strode out of the bay muttering about space madness and alien pollens.
The rest, can be read the rest at my archive.

Write Every Day

I'm getting this one in early. Ha! This is not in the same verse as the others. This is from my Federation Series. Hey, I have to keep my two storylines straight somehow, right? Anyway, this one has gone through countless re-workings and my beta and I finally hammered it into submission. In celebration, I present you with a snippet:
Christine Chapel was 18 years old and the daughter of Drs. Lauren and Patterson Chapel, a very ambitious and hard-working couple. She had no doubt her parents loved her, but she knew they felt it was more important they push forward with their scientific advancements than raise their child when nannies and tutors were more qualified for the job. That left Christine's marraine, Caroline, to fill the role of mother as best she could. Her dear godmother, however, was not very good with discipline or boundaries.

Christine refused to use her parents' careers, or Caroline's lack of disciplinary skills, as a crutch, however. In the end, she ended up a strange mix of responsibility and entitlement, love and loneliness. She had her faults, and she was well aware of them, however, she also had the will to correct them.

Write Every Day

This is totally backdated because I got distracted watching a movie and forgot to post. Unbeta'd, so here's a snippet. It's in the Empire Series, and it's from T'Pau's POV. So, no sex, but we do see that this Mirrorverse has been altered by Nero. Later, in the multi-chapter series, I'll even explain the circumstances behind Nero's trip through the wormhole! However, for now, a snippet from T'Pau:
Since before she was born, the Terrans had ruled over T'Pau's people without mercy. Vulcan, as a whole, had been absorbed into the Empire and there had seemed very little that could be done about it.

However, there were those behind the scenes, waiting for an opportunity to arise, a way to exploit a weakness in the Empire. Their patience was rewarded when one of the Imperial Fleet's own ships was attacked by what was later was revealed to be a Romulan vessel.

Write Every Day

Still in the Empire series. Unbeta'd. Again, Jim's POV Tomorrow, I post the story!
Kirk wasn't sure what the other captains had received in that second message, but what he'd been given was not something he wanted to even think about again.

Write Every Day

I would have gotten more done, but there was re-writes, then posting to do. You know how it is. So, since this is incomplete, you get the snippet. Unbeta'd, so don't look to [livejournal.com profile] velvetwhip when it looks like crap.

Yes, this is still from my Empire series. And, this one is finally from Kirk's POV. Small warning, Kirk had a potty mouth. Bad Kirk!
It took a while for Kirk to figure out what his first officer was doing with their newest Head Nurse. With anyone else, the small touches would have been thoughtless gestures, but with Spock they obviously had a purpose. It wasn't until the Vulcan had stared straight into his eyes as Chapel slightly, and unconsciously, leaned into the touch that he knew for sure.

That fucking Vulcan bastard.

And, someone asked me how this series differs from the TOS mirrorverse enough to make it AOS. Just to let everyone know, that will be addressed.

Write Every Day

Unbeta'd, because it took so long. This is only a snippet, because of the non-beta'd status.

Again, Star Trek: AOS, Mirrorverse. I will be posting this as soon as it's finished and has been beaten into submission by my beta.
Everything about her seemed designed to present a challenge, and Kirk was well known to love challenges. Her presence on board the Enterprise would provide the perfect opportunity to remind the Captain that anything he had or wanted could easily be taken away.

Write Every Day

This is beta'd. Shocking, right? I happened to find my beta and force her to read over it before I posted. Pre-beta was too scary for words.

This takes place in AOS mirror!verse, and it's Chapel/Spock (my very first Star Trek OTP). Who knows, I may eventually expand on it. There's a whole big story waiting to be written about how he can be not physically interested to start with, but still be able to have sex with her. And, yes, I'm posting the whole thing. One day, I'll be back in my grove and able to write more than 100-200 snippets.

Since this could be a complete story in and of itself, a nice snippet, I'll give you the whole thing. I call it Sex and Other Tools.
It was like this every time.

Christine wasn't sure, at first, why he initiated anything if it wasn't something he physically wanted. When he'd taken her the first time, she had assumed it was a show of power; domination through sex. Still, what he had done was less like fucking than making love.

It wasn't until she caught Kirk staring at her one day, noticing Spock had seen it as well, that the words he always said as he sank into her every night began to make sense.

“If another were to touch you, this would cease.”

Her body on fire from his touches, both physical and mental, everything clicked into place.

She was a pawn he used against the captain, a way to show Kirk that his first officer was more than capable of taking something he wanted and keeping it for himself.

Oddly enough, it made it easier to just let go and enjoy. Power plays were something she could understand. That he did everything possible to addict her to his touch didn't really bother Christine. After all, there were far worse things he could do.

Making a Loud Noise Until Rescued

"I thought," said Piglet earnestly, "that if Eeyore stood at the bottom of the tree, and if Pooh stood on Eeyore's back, and if I stood on Pooh's shoulders----"

"And if Eeyore's back snapped suddenly, then we could all laugh. Ha ha! Amusing in a quiet way," said Eeyore, "but not really helpful."

"Well," said Piglet meekly, "I thought----"

"Would it break your back, Eeyore?" asked Pooh, very much surprised.

"That's what would be so interesting, Pooh. Not being quite sure till afterwards."
