For a limited time, to raise money for a move that would benifit us all, squeaky is talking about offering up Hopital Benifactor [name may be changed] accounts. Please, vote in the poll in the announcements asylum and let him know our thoughts.

squeaky has a poll up concerning IJ's webhosting that could affect the prices of paid accounts and he wants everyone's opinions.

Here's the basic break down:

One is considerably more expensive than the other, but what they are offering us is 100% top notch service. The problem is that if we choose them we will not be able to keep our paid accounts the same price. We will raise them to $20/6mo or $35/year. If we pick the other provider, which is not as well known, and isn't offering us the same level of service we will not have to raise prices at all.

I do want to note that once we get settled in and the paid accounts are coming in at a decent pace then we will consider lowering the prices back to a reasonable level.

Yeah, i'm just worried about having to raise them that far. LJ apparently has lowered their prices to lower than where we are right now (for automatic renewals), and will be lower for manual payments too if this price change goes through. Which is why I really want to clear this through all of you before I decide. Please spread word of this poll around.

Had it not been for the Twitter account, I would have gone crazy.

Still having issues with editing theme layers on IJ. Tomorrow, when I'm not feeling so frustrated I'll try to open a support ticket again. Did I mention I had problems doing that?

In other frustrating news; hard coding font colors into your journal posts should get you a prime spot up against the wall. You wouldn't even get the blindfold and cigarette.

I can now post to communities via the update page in Firefox. Before, I didn't have that option. Heck, I couldn't even choose a userpic [though, I could when I edited].

I'm impressed with how little time it took to fix that little bug. So, how long has it been fixed?

ETA: Apparently, it's not so much fixed as I've accidentally worked around the glitch. See this thread for a brief explanation.

Yeah, I can't live without this feature, to be honest. After digging through the comments at ljwin32_sema, I found the answer. Now, I'm a technical n00b most of the time, so it took me a second to figure out what was meant by "you run regedit (start/run), open HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\alex semenov\livejournalU\user_[your username]\" and therefor was stuck from the get go. However, I figured it out, and, having done so, will share the how to [with images] with those who are as clueless as I am.

I'm running Window's XP, and therefor know not how to do this with anything you're running that's not extremely similar. If you run something different, and work out how to do this, feel free to let me know [images are great] and I can add it to this post.

Now, a word on tags. If you post as different users from the same client and don't want to share tags between journals, it's pretty simple to do. Go to your program file for Semagic and locate the file named taglist.txt. To separate which tags go to which journal, now, just open that and save it in the same place as taglist.USERNAME.txt. For example, my taglist file for this journal would be called taglist.lilbreck.txt. Don't forget to clear the new file after/before you save it.

For those of you who post to IJ with Semagic, does your section for tags not show up? For some reason, mine won't. It's kinda frustrating.

Edit: Apparently, there's fix for this. Check out he comments. And if anyone of you can figure that out, I'll give you a cookie if you explain it to me. I figured it out! And, I'll be posting a tutorial shortly.

Just what it sounds like

tag_permissions for community add-level control-level {admin console}

community = the name of your community, add-level defines who can add new tags. You can choose public (everyone), friends (members), private (just you) or the name of a custom friendsgroup you defined earlier, e.g. mods, control-level defines who can also merge, delete, or rename tags (in short, has full control over the tags system). The options are the same as with the add level.

Did you know we have PM [private messages]? I just found out.
