Write Every Day

I'm going to be leaving for Ohio February 8th. Given how much short notice this is, and that I only have about a week or so to prepare (including paperwork and switching my daughter's schools), I'll be going on a hiatus. This means no Write Every Day posts. Check out my calendar:

This means that the first eight [8] challenges submitted to my site will get filled (hopefully) by the end of February. There are some rules:
  1. In the summary list [characters not listed that you want];[possible word prompt];[possible quote/lyric prompt]
    1. ex: Willow; black; Winter that year was strange and gray.

  2. You can only use the categories all ready listed at my site.
    1. The exception is for Crossovers. Those can be between any two of the categories list, including original. Just list it in the summary if a crossover category doesn't exist.
    2. I cannot fill prompts for co-writing, obviously.

  3. Feel free to add any characters you need to in the summary if they are not listed.

  4. There is no 4.

  5. If you are absolutely opposed to a romantic pairing with the characters you listed, please state so in the summary.
    1. Any prompts that list only one character will be viewed as character study/gen prompts.
    2. It is up to my discretion if I want to write a romantic pairing for your prompt.

Write Every Day

Managed to work on some more of that ficlet from the Federation Series I was working on yesterday. Then I got to writing more, and realized that it's so totally not part of the series. This is like.. post destruction of Vulcan and post break-up with Uhura. I have to make sure to write about the break-up in a way that is reasonable and manages not to vilify or demonize Uhura. I think I can mange it. Hopefully. Also, this isn't going to be anything happy and fluffy bunny. More like bordering on, if not fully living in the land of, creepy. And, for you, a snippet:
Bending his head, he places his lips against her neck and molds his body to her. When he feels guilt begin to surface in her, he gently bites down where her neck and shoulder meet and firmly places his hand between her thighs in a move he has learned is the quickest way to encourage her desire to override her conscience. While he admires her strong moral code, he cannot allow it to jeopardize what they have. As he sinks into her arousal, he can feel his body begin to respond and pulls her hips pulls her hips tighter against him.

Write Every Day

It was a hellacious weekend, thus the lack of W.E.D. posts. I missed writing Saturday, Sunday I wrote something that depressed the hell out of me, and Monday I wrote something personal that I never intend to share. Today, I worked on part of my Federation Series (regular 'verse companion to my AOS mirrorverse series). This is as of yet unbeta'd because it's not fleshed out enough for even my beta to see. However, you get a snippet!
Where his people repress passion, her people often use passion as a tool to express and deepen intimacy. He is aware she would be willing to forgo sexual contact out of respect for him. However, he is also aware she would not thrive in such a relationship and would eventually leave because of it. It is not an outcome he would prefer.

Today's writing was an utter failure. I had to scrap everything I wrote. Apparently, I can't write anything happy unless it's total crack right now. Gr.

Write Every Day

Wrote some more on my Chapel study. One day, you'll actually get to read it!

There'll be a surprise at the end of the month, as well. Oh, since you asked so nicely, I'll go ahead and tell you. At the end of the month, I'll put up a link to where you can put in challenges in my personal archive. You don't have to sign up, it takes anonymous challenges. However many red squares I end up with, that's how many challenges I'll take! It'll be first come first serve. I'll let you know specific details when the time comes.

Write Every Day

Today, I both wrote on my Chapel write up, and I did a little drabble. Well, 200 words. I don't usually write in present tense, but it just came out that way. It's Spillow, set in a slightly AU ending of season 6. Let me know what you all think!
They dance together to music only she can hear as the world burns around them. She isn't the first girl he's spun around in the ashes with, but she could be the last.

Bending low to her ear, he whispers that they should leave; there's nothing left for them here. It's not strictly a lie. Sure, the Watcher's still clinging to life somehow, but his girl went to town on the poor bastard and now no one would recognize him. Spike doubts he'd be much entertainment for the little witch anymore.

He's not sure what sent Willow off the deep end; he only knows that when she came back, she didn't come back all the way. Somewhere, deep in that soul he's not sure he really wanted, he aches for the good little girl he knew – the one who agonized over even bruising the feelings of a demon who had done his part to shorten her lifespan. However, high on the magic laced blood she freely offered, he finds it easy to ignore that small pain. After all, they have the world to conquer.

“Hey, now, what do you say we head to L.A. and drop in on some family?”

Write Every Day

Again, today I wrote on my outline/essay/examination of Chapel in Star Trek TOS and TAS. You get no snippet, mwahahahha. Also, I'm backdating this because I'm a couple hours late posting. What can I say, I got caught up in the episodes. However, you do get a handy dandy table:

Write Every Day

Today, I did two things for writing. I did a bit of a character being happy, or at least getting there. The other thing I did was start an episode by episode break down of Christine Chapel. Part of me just wants to see if I'm putting on blinders and refusing to see the pathetic character others do, or if her reputation is more than a bit undeserved. I'll be covering both TOS and TAS. I won't actually be able to cover the movies until I get them on DVD.

Basically, what that all means is that you get no snippet today. Mwahahaha.

In case anyone's interested, this was actually brought on by a few fics in which Chapel's the lovesick shrew, and then, finally, this discussion post at [livejournal.com profile] spock_chapel.

When I do get this finished, I will be posting here, in case you want to read it.

Write Every Day

Backdated, because I'm anal and don't want this to be marked as posted half hour after midnight.

This one is from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I know, you're shocked it isn't more Star Trek! This is something I had started work on a long time ago, and I just picked it out again today and started reworking some of it. Unbeta'd, so be warned. Here's just a snippet:
Her eyes are completely black as she rides him, hands pressing against him where his heart used to beat.

“You'll always be mine, right? I won't let you leave me.”
He's not sure when it all started to change, when she started to get lost in her own spell. Maybe he had simply found the one girl who he could make fall for him just by loving her enough. Either way, he was going to do everything he could to bind her tight to him.
He rolls them over, hand slipping unnoticed under the pillow. Bracing himself on one arm, he drags his free hand down the bed along side her, concealing a dark emerald gemstone under his palm.

Write Every Day

Today, I wrote crack! It was fun, not really having to worry about being in character, or timelines, or anything. This is Star Trek, Reboot, implied orgy, nothing to do with any of my other writings. I offer you a small snippet:
Watching the Vulcan advancing on her, Christine began to realize that drawing his attention was not, perhaps, her best idea ever.

McCoy walked in as she was inspecting the area on her neck that Spock had assaulted with his hypo.

“He got you two as well?”

At their nods, he strode out of the bay muttering about space madness and alien pollens.
The rest, can be read the rest at my archive.

Write Every Day

I'm getting this one in early. Ha! This is not in the same verse as the others. This is from my Federation Series. Hey, I have to keep my two storylines straight somehow, right? Anyway, this one has gone through countless re-workings and my beta and I finally hammered it into submission. In celebration, I present you with a snippet:
Christine Chapel was 18 years old and the daughter of Drs. Lauren and Patterson Chapel, a very ambitious and hard-working couple. She had no doubt her parents loved her, but she knew they felt it was more important they push forward with their scientific advancements than raise their child when nannies and tutors were more qualified for the job. That left Christine's marraine, Caroline, to fill the role of mother as best she could. Her dear godmother, however, was not very good with discipline or boundaries.

Christine refused to use her parents' careers, or Caroline's lack of disciplinary skills, as a crutch, however. In the end, she ended up a strange mix of responsibility and entitlement, love and loneliness. She had her faults, and she was well aware of them, however, she also had the will to correct them.

Jan. 9th, 2010

Write Every Day

This is totally backdated because I got distracted watching a movie and forgot to post. Unbeta'd, so here's a snippet. It's in the Empire Series, and it's from T'Pau's POV. So, no sex, but we do see that this Mirrorverse has been altered by Nero. Later, in the multi-chapter series, I'll even explain the circumstances behind Nero's trip through the wormhole! However, for now, a snippet from T'Pau:
Since before she was born, the Terrans had ruled over T'Pau's people without mercy. Vulcan, as a whole, had been absorbed into the Empire and there had seemed very little that could be done about it.

However, there were those behind the scenes, waiting for an opportunity to arise, a way to exploit a weakness in the Empire. Their patience was rewarded when one of the Imperial Fleet's own ships was attacked by what was later was revealed to be a Romulan vessel.
For my past WED posts (all one of them), check out my writing:write every day tag.

Jan. 6th, 2010

Write Every Day

Still in the Empire series. Unbeta'd. Again, Jim's POV Tomorrow, I post the story!
Kirk wasn't sure what the other captains had received in that second message, but what he'd been given was not something he wanted to even think about again.
For my past WED posts (all one of them), check out my writing:write every day tag.

Jan. 5th, 2010

Write Every Day

I would have gotten more done, but there was re-writes, then posting to do. You know how it is. So, since this is incomplete, you get the snippet. Unbeta'd, so don't look to [livejournal.com profile] velvetwhip when it looks like crap.

Yes, this is still from my Empire series. And, this one is finally from Kirk's POV. Small warning, Kirk had a potty mouth. Bad Kirk!
It took a while for Kirk to figure out what his first officer was doing with their newest Head Nurse. With anyone else, the small touches would have been thoughtless gestures, but with Spock they obviously had a purpose. It wasn't until the Vulcan had stared straight into his eyes as Chapel slightly, and unconsciously, leaned into the touch that he knew for sure.

That fucking Vulcan bastard.

And, someone asked me how this series differs from the TOS mirrorverse enough to make it AOS. Just to let everyone know, that will be addressed.

For my past WED posts, check out my writing:write every day tag.

Write Every Day

Unbeta'd, because it took so long. This is only a snippet, because of the non-beta'd status.

Again, Star Trek: AOS, Mirrorverse. I will be posting this as soon as it's finished and has been beaten into submission by my beta.
Everything about her seemed designed to present a challenge, and Kirk was well known to love challenges. Her presence on board the Enterprise would provide the perfect opportunity to remind the Captain that anything he had or wanted could easily be taken away.
For my past WED posts (all one of them), check out my writing:write every day tag.

Jan. 3rd, 2010

Write Every Day

This is beta'd. Shocking, right? I happened to find my beta and force her to read over it before I posted. Pre-beta was too scary for words.

This takes place in AOS mirror!verse, and it's Chapel/Spock (my very first Star Trek OTP). Who knows, I may eventually expand on it. There's a whole big story waiting to be written about how he can be not physically interested to start with, but still be able to have sex with her. And, yes, I'm posting the whole thing. One day, I'll be back in my grove and able to write more than 100-200 snippets.

Since this could be a complete story in and of itself, a nice snippet, I'll give you the whole thing. I call it Sex and Other Tools.
It was like this every time.

Christine wasn't sure, at first, why he initiated anything if it wasn't something he physically wanted. When he'd taken her the first time, she had assumed it was a show of power; domination through sex. Still, what he had done was less like fucking than making love.

It wasn't until she caught Kirk staring at her one day, noticing Spock had seen it as well, that the words he always said as he sank into her every night began to make sense.

“If another were to touch you, this would cease.”

Her body on fire from his touches, both physical and mental, everything clicked into place.

She was a pawn he used against the captain, a way to show Kirk that his first officer was more than capable of taking something he wanted and keeping it for himself.

Oddly enough, it made it easier to just let go and enjoy. Power plays were something she could understand. That he did everything possible to addict her to his touch didn't really bother Christine. After all, there were far worse things he could do.

Making a Loud Noise Until Rescued

"I thought," said Piglet earnestly, "that if Eeyore stood at the bottom of the tree, and if Pooh stood on Eeyore's back, and if I stood on Pooh's shoulders----"

"And if Eeyore's back snapped suddenly, then we could all laugh. Ha ha! Amusing in a quiet way," said Eeyore, "but not really helpful."

"Well," said Piglet meekly, "I thought----"

"Would it break your back, Eeyore?" asked Pooh, very much surprised.

"That's what would be so interesting, Pooh. Not being quite sure till afterwards."
